  • This can be tricky for sure! You need to find a job that knows you and is willing to work with you. If you can’t find a job like this, then you create it yourself!! This is what I have done!

I highly recommend that you talk with your job and say “I want to take this trip this year, how can we make it happen?” Most jobs that care about their employees will make it work!

Now if you are wanting to travel more than 2-4 weeks in a year, then you probably should look at creating your own income options.

  • The easiest way to accomplish this, is to work with established companies already. I recommend the following that I have worked with and I think they do a pretty good job. Loop Abroad and Worldwide Vets.

The other option is to find it yourself. I have a whole blog on how to do this, so check that out.

  • I have worked for both corporate and private practices. They each have their pros and cons. I have made a whole pros and cons list you can check out on my blog page!

  • Relief isn’t for everyone. I definitely found myself in a place where I loved to be when I was doing relief. I recommend it, but if you like stability and knowing where everything is in a clinic, then it probably isn’t for your. Or you need to relief at the same practices on a regular basis.

Check out my blog post on the pros and cons of relief work.

  • You can do as little or as much relief work as you want. Some will keep a regular job and then add in relief, while others do relief full time. If you aren’t going to go the full time route, I would recommend you either relief at 1-2 clinics that you know and stick with, or use a third party company. The third party comes with its own setbacks, but it makes scheduling a bit easier.

If you want to go full time, there are a few other steps you should follow. Check out my post on this topic to give you more info.

Today’s quarantine study time. Kidney dysfunction in small animals. Here we go.
#vetstudent #vetlife #studytime #keepuptheskillz #veterinarian Traveling back to America during this Covid 19 was definitely an experience. Short airline security lines, empathy planes, and missed connects. After two days I finally made it back. Now to self isolate for 14 days.
#travel #covid19 #isolation #moun I love wildlife. This is why I adventure. #vetstudent #vetlife #veterinarian #vetstudentlife #wildlife #nature #mantarays Enjoying a couple days in London. There were so few people out and about it was shocking, although well done people for staying inside as needed. This virus 🦠 may be secluding ya all to our homes, but we can still enjoy a little fresh air now and th
“Shark check” I feel like I’m constantly looking around for these to make sure I won’t be eaten. Lol. Although they don’t really bother you and the likelihood of being eaten is super small. But whenever I’m in the Just a few of the many snorkelling photos. Most likely more to come. I love that even if you go to the same place multiple times, you still see something different. It’s international women’s day today. I have so many women in my life who have made a difference to me. Two of which are in this photo here. I love the time we all spent together travelling and hope to do it more.
I have so many women wh Morning snorkel before work. Great way to start the day!
#vetstudent #vetlife #veterinarian #prevet Ghost nets: nets that are left behind in the ocean and entangle with basically anything. We see a lot of wildlife entangled in these nets and depending on the animals, how much net, and what else is connected in the net it can cause a lot of problems Happy world wildlife day!! Couldn’t think of a better place to spend today then working with wildlife.

They get covered in algae and need some help getting it off. In the wild, fish would do this for them in “cleaning stations” but not here. We The first destination of the 4 month journey is amazing so far! Clear blue water, great company, and an amazing start to the journey. .
This was my first time ever in a sea plane and it was just as exciting as I had hoped. I would definitely travel t This palm tree was way heavier than it looked. Can’t wait to go enjoy some sunshine next week and some real tropical weather rather than carry it around.
#zoolife #vetstudent #vetlife #veterinarian #edinburghzoo We said goodbye to the zoo today. The last 3 weeks have been amazing. Enjoy this photo of us as lions rocking out our new hairdo’s
#adventurousvet #veterinary #prevet #zoomedicine #wildlife #zoo #vetstudent #vetlife Wednesday feelings out at the zoo today. Jealous of this napping guy. 💤 .
I can’t look at these cute drop bears and not think of the fires in Australia. They are all “contained” at the moment (last I checked) which is a huge relief With the snow in Scotland I couldn’t help but think of Switzerland 🇨🇭 It has been by far one of my favourite places for scenery that I’ve been to.
#switzerland #snow #mountains #winterwonderland #wintertime My dart gun skills have definitely improved since South Africa. This time I hit the target all 6 times. The first 3 I didn’t picture but they were all really consistent and below the bullseye (blue pin) while my next three were an improvement. I’m in the market for a car. This one fits my budget at the moment.
Definitely be riding in style with this one.
